Sylvaner
Sylvaner. (also spelled Silvaner) is a white wine grape variety grown in Franconia and other regions of Germany, and also in Austria, Alsace, the western U.S., Australasia, South Africa, and other areas of eastern Europe. It often produces somewhat innocuous wines, though can be thought of as a blank canvas to express terroir. It is fully capable of producing elegant wines. Sylvaner is best with light dishes of trout, white meats and white sauces.
