Venezia DOC, named for the city of Venice (as well as the historical kingdom of Venice) covers wines produced in the provinces of Venezia and Treviso of the Veneto region. Several types of wines are made, from sparkling to lighter whites to various reds, as well as a few dessert wines. The Venezia DOC term is sometimes seen on bottles of Pinot Grigio or inexpensive Chardonnay or Merlot, but most producers opt for the Delle Venezie IGT designation.
