Haiti is famous for its rums (or rhums, if you will), dating back to the mid-19th century. There are various styles produced, from white rum to the more celebrated golden rums, aged in casks from five to fifteen years. These are quite rich, with flavors of roasted almonds, orange compote and a subtle peppery note. These are superb rums to be sipped slowly after dinner to enjoy their finesse. Given their quality, exports of these rums is strong.
