Grand River Valley
The Grand River Valley AVA is located in northern Ohio, near the shores of Lake Erie, east of Cleveland. The zone is named for the eponymous river; sand and gravel soils are dominant here. Production is split between hybrid grapes, such as Vidal and Chambourcin and vitis vinifera, such as Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. The climate is cool, and conditions are beneficial for the production of Ice Wine, especially from Vidal.
