Zweigelt
Zweigelt is the most widely planted red grape in Austria and produces a rich, herbal and almost peppery wine with ripe cherry flavors and balanced acidity. Tannins for most examples are firm and most wines are aged in oak. Quality appears to be raising overall so the variety can increasingly make serious and age-worthy wines. There are also some notable examples of Zweigelt Rosé, which are quite dry. Pair these wines with pork, game birds and stews. (Wine/Grapes)
