Rosé wine is made in many regions in Italy. Among the most famous are Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Negroamaro from Puglia and Sangiovese rosé from Tuscany. These are quite rich and rather dry and offer excellent complexity; they are wonderful alternatives to red wines during the warm weather and can stand up to many red meats. Inexpensive versions from the Veneto and Friuli regions tend to be lighter and a bit sweeter.
