Ruby black color. Aromas and flavors of cooked flowers, plastic wrapped chocolate, cherry pastry dough, and plum and mulberry with a round, bright, dry medium body and a tingling, brisk finish that presents suggestions of cherry and blackberry, plum, and cocoa. An approachable and easy drinking red blend.

For the wine consumer jaded by the chocolate and vanilla worlds of Cabernet and Chardonnay, a little diversity in the nightly wine selection can offer a welcome respite. Though hardly the "next new thing," a number of regional specialties around the country are waiting to surprise the unsuspecting wine tourist and provide a welcome change of pace.

A number of these wines are made in states such as Wisconsin or Missouri, from grapes such as Marechal Foch, Frontenac and Marquette; they are idiosyncratic with tangy flavors and moderate tannins; they are meant for early consumption.
