New Jersey Wine Competition Reviews

William Heritage 2019 Reserve BDX Red Blend Outer Coastal Plain
95 points
$50
Ruby black color. Aromas and flavors of cherry kringle with pecan sprinkles and vanilla frosting, wet hay, and creme de cassis with a round, crisp, dry medium body and a polished, intricate, medium-length finish that presents accents of red cherry vanilla cream, red and black currants, and pipe tobacco with well-integrated tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. Tell Miles from Sideways that he was dead wrong, Merlot is a splendid varietal and all the better when properly blended.
William Heritage 2021 Rosé Outer Coastal Plain

Amber salmon color. Aromas and flavors of strawberry cream, raspberry nougat, strawberry watermelon juice, and cucumber with a silky, crisp, dry medium body and a tingling, interesting, medium-length finish that shows accents of red sweet tarts candies, watermelon hard candy, and tomato vine with no oak flavor. A pleasant and approachable berry-forward Rose to sip all day.
William Heritage 2020 Estate Reserve Five Gen Red Blend Outer Coastal Plain

Dusty ruby color. Aromas and flavors of red cherry and plum, pomegranate juice, and lilac and chive with a silky, crisp, dry medium body and a warming, interesting, medium-length finish evoking nuances of red cherry, plum and sweet pepper, baking spice, and chocolate covered espresso bean and dried blueberries with well-integrated tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. A stellar example of New World meets Old World; would pair nicely with a variety of entrees.
William Heritage 2019 Estate Reserve Normans Vineyard Cabernet Franc

Ruby black color. Aromas and flavors of sweet stir fried peppers tossed in a mole sauce, blackberry, red currant, bing cherry, toasted seeds and lilac, and olive bread with a velvety, bright, dry medium body and a long finish displaying nuances of red and black berries, savory garden herb and sweet pepper tones, touch of oak, and black olive brine with well-integrated tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. A fruity and savory expression of Cabernet Franc that is very soif-able.
William Heritage 2021 Estate Reserve Rosé Outer Coastal Plain

$34
Silvery pink color. Aromas and flavors of raspberry, plum, and vanilla and roasted fruit with a round, dry medium-to-full body and a tingling, delightful, medium-long finish that shows notes of red berries and red apple, green herbs, and pink grapefruit with leafy tannins and no oak flavor. A delicious berry and citrus forward Rose that will show best paired with some foods and make for a great partner around the grill.
William Heritage 2021 Limited Release Chenin Blanc

Yellow straw color. Aromas and flavors of linseed oil, yellow apple, and bartlett pear with a round, lively, bone-dry medium-to-full body and a medium-to-long finish displaying notes of yellow apple and ripe pear, honey and applejacks cereal, and vanilla cream. A delicious Chenin to sip on now, but has the fruit and acid to gain depth and complexity in the cellar over a few years.
William Heritage 2021 Limited Release Semillon
89 points
$34
Straw green color. Aromas and flavors of jackfruit, starfruit, and yuzu, honeyed green apple and goose berry, and clarified butter with a satiny, tangy, bone-dry medium body and a nuanced, medium-length finish that exhibits accents of poached pear, pickled ginger and cinnamon, mango, guava, and and nectarine. Summer in a glass, bright and tropical fruit forward with refreshing acidity for balance.

Hazy golden straw color. Aromas and flavors of cinnamon roasted nuts, meyer lemon, cassis leaf, and candy peach rings with a velvety, racy, dry medium body and a tingling, interesting, medium-long finish with shades of grapefruit, key lime cream, and graham cracker crust with a suggestion of oak flavor. A well-crafted wine with citrus and tropical fruits that is immediately recognizable as new world Sauvignon Blanc.
William Heritage 2020 Estate Reserve Burn Pile Vineyard Chambourcin

Indigo color. Aromas and flavors of black cherry and black currant juice, barnyard, and pipe tobacco with a round, crisp, dry medium-to-full body and a tingling, compelling, medium-length finish with accents of black cherry, black plum, dark chocolate covered pomegranate, and cherry cola with fruit tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. A very fruit-forward Chambourcin with dense red and black berries; would pair well with braised meats or a fruit and chocolate dessert platter.
Palmaris 2016 Reserve Estate Petit Verdot

Black ruby color. Aromas and flavors of chocolate sauce spilled on a sun baked pool toy and coconut and dill with a soft, dry light-to-medium body and a tingling, interesting, medium-length finish with elements of stewed sweet pepper, vinyl, and blueberry pie and anise with well-integrated tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. A big red bursting with black, blue and red fruits - great with a campfire and S’Mores.
