Moscato d'Asti from Italy's Piedmont region has become a huge sales success over the past decade. Produced from the Moscato grape, the wine is slightly sparkling (frizzante), so there is a slight "pop" when the cork is removed.

Displaying aromas of peach, apricot, orange blossom and often ginger, this is a light dessert wine with an alcohol level of only 5.5%. The wine has a light-to-medium sweetness (typically an RS of 7-12%) to it and is a delight on its own or with fresh strawberries or peaches. It is rare to find a bad Moscato d'Asti, as even the simplest versions are quite pleasing, it is produced by large companies as well as small, artisanal producers. Consume in its first year to enjoy its zesty fruitiness.
