Port 20 Year Tawny

Wine Glass Port.jpg
Serve in a Port Wine Glass
A 20 Year Old Tawny is a style of tawny port aged in wood. Although it is believed that the average age of the wine in the bottle is 20 years or more, this is not a legal definition. Thus a 20 year tawny is more of a suggested style. It is always produced in the Douro region of Portugal.

It has been aged for many years at the winery before releasing it to the market, however. It has a very round, soft finish, as the tannins have softened, with nutty, light caramel and excellent complexity. These are limited release offerings, so prices average $20-$50 a bottle. Enjoy on their own or with blue cheeses or not very sweet dessert tarts or an almond torte.
