Light garnet color. Aromas and flavors of chocolate coconut dream bar, turkish taffy, and wet ink on paper with a supple, crisp, dry-yet-fruity light body and a smooth, medium-to-long finish displaying notes of nougat with cocoa dusted strawberry, circus peanut, nut skins, and skin-on roasted root vegetables with well-integrated, soft tannins and a suggestion of oak flavor. A solid, dry red wine that will be versatile.

Other Red Hybrid

For the wine consumer jaded by the chocolate and vanilla worlds of Cabernet and Chardonnay, a little diversity in the nightly wine selection can offer a welcome respite. Though hardly the "next new thing," a number of regional specialties around the country are waiting to surprise the unsuspecting wine tourist and provide a welcome change of pace.

A number of these wines are made in states such as Wisconsin or Missouri, from grapes such as Marechal Foch, Frontenac and Marquette; they are idiosyncratic with tangy flavors and moderate tannins; they are meant for early consumption.

Our Other Red Hybrid category is specifically for less common red hybrids, or new and innovative red hybrid grape cultivars.
