Loire Other White

Other whites from the Loire Valley in northwest France include Muscadet, Savennieres and Touraine. Muscadet is a dry, crisp white, produced from the eponymous grape. It is generally a light to medium-bodied wine with delicate citrus and melon fruit and very good acidity. Muscadet ideally pairs with oysters or any shellfish or with lighter poultry.

Savennieres is made from the Chenin Blanc grape, while Touraine is made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc, sometimes with a bit of Chardonnay as well. These are medium-boded whites with very good acidity, that are beat enjoyed within three to seven years. Pair these wines with shellfish, sushi, quiche Lorraine and lighter poultry dishes.
