Other French reds include inexpensive Vin de Pays d'Oc, so-called country wines, simple Bordeaux Superieur and Medoc reds; these last two made from grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The Vin de Pays d'Oc wines sometimes have clever names based on animals to help get noticed on retails shelves, given their humble roots. Pair these wines with sandwiches, paté and light chicken dishes; some of these lighter reds can even be chilled.
