90 • Elk Run 2012 Cold Friday Vineyard, Gewurztraminer, Linganore $16.51. Best Buy.
Bright gold with reflections of polished brass. Aromas of lychee, honeycomb, mango, golden pineapple, white roses and jasmine. Floral and spicy flavors of tropical fruits, ginger and acacia. Hedonistic while remaining balanced from Meyer lemon and golden delicious apples. Finish is long and complex maintaining all the flavors and aromas to the end. Could be compared to a Grand Cru Vendage Tardive from Alsace. (tasted on Nov-09-2013)

88 • Heron Hill Winery 2012 Reserve, Gewürztraminer, New York State $19.99.
Straw yellow. Heady aromas of acacia, lychee, ripe peaches, candied ginger, wool sweater and gardenia's. Floral driven flavors of lilies, yellow flowers and jasmine combine with baked pear, almond, and grilled yellow plum. Almost dry, adding to the fat, weighty palate. A bit over the top, but fun and perfumey in style. Like a weighty Torrontes. (tasted on Nov-12-2013)
