Reddish mahogany color. Nutty, oaky aromas and flavors of dried sour cherries, cocoa, roasted nuts, and sourdough with a supple, bright, finely carbonated, dryish medium body and a tingling, captivating, medium-long finish with nuances of citrus, quince, sarsaparilla, and mint leaf finish. A zesty, food friendly sour ale with well-framed oak.

Flanders Style Brown Ale

Flanders style brown ales, or Oud Bruin, are reddish brown to dark brown in color and range in alcohol from 4-8%. These beers are medium-to-full bodied and are defined by dark fruit and sweet malt flavors balanced by an acidic sourness. Sweet malt flavors include caramel, toffee and molasses, while dark fruit flavors may include raisins, plums, figs and dates. These complex, dark beers are most closely associated with the town of Oudenaarde in Flanders. The contrasting sweet and sour flavor of Flanders brown ales is the result of blending a sour oak-aged beer with a sweeter, younger beer. Noteworthy examples of this style include: Liefmans Goudenband, New Belgium La Folie and Petrus Oud Bruin.
