Needing a way to pay for film school at Columbia College, Joel found work as a union carpenter. Staging at Aviary made him fall in love with ice. These two seemingly disparate paths forged a new career as Joel became the ice man in demand with his amazing creations for the Fifty/50 Group, including freezing a ring for a daring proposal.

Mr. Rund now works as an Ice Chef for the LEYE Group as well as his own company, Nice Ice.

He lives in Chicago with his wife and son.
