93 • Starlite 2010 Viognier, Sonoma County $47.
Fruity and floral honeysuckle and honeyed apricot aromas with a soft, oily dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a very pure crunchy ripe peach and cream, melon and mineral finish. A very effusive and Condrieu-like domestic viognier with great varietal character. (tasted on Jun-18-2012)
90 • Brennan 2010 Viognier, Texas$17.50. Best Buy.
Mild aromas of banana bread, peach, and creme Anglaise with a crisp, dryish medium body and a lovely quince and mineral accent on the finish. A dead ringer for a lighter Rhone white. (tasted on Jun-11-2012)
88 • Pend d'Oreille 2010 Viognier, Washington $18.
Aromas of coconut creme brulee, pineapple-peach gelato, and pickle relish have an aƱejo tequila like quality. Supple, dry-yet-fruity, and medium bodied with a elegant balance of nectarine, creamy oak, and earth. A fine table wine. (tasted on Jun-11-2012)
87 • Hawk Haven 2010 Viognier, Outer Coastal Plain $20.
Bright golden yellow color. Toasty coconut macaroon, caramel apple and peach cobbler aromas and flavors with a soft, dry-yet-fruit medium body and a tangy citrus custard finish. A nicely oaked viognier. (tasted on Jun-11-2012)
86 • Brennan 2011 Viognier, Texas$17.50.
Aromas and flavors of fruit cocktail and lemon spritzed apple with a crisp, dryish medium body and a warming, tangy tangerine and roasted nut finish. Tasty. (tasted on Jun-11-2012)
81 • Capay Valley Vineyards 2011 Estate Bottled, Viognier, Capay Valley $12.99.
Gold color. Very smoky grilled peach and apple aromas have a hint of fuel and pepper-herb oil with a very tart, dry light-to-medium body and sharp, terse crabapple, lemon, and gravel finish. Very austere. (tasted on Jun-11-2012)
