89 • Moonstone Coconut Lemongrass Nigori Genshu Saké $11. Best Buy.
Opaque milky alabaster color. Interesting aromas of coconut cream, lemongrass, and crystalized ginger follow though on a round, vibrant entry to a fruity medium-full body with nice depth and naturalness of flavor. Finishes with a long, spicy ginger and lemongrass fade. Very nice. Try in cocktail or with coconut ice cream. (tasted on Dec-17-2008)
88 • Moonstone Asian Pear Ginjo Saké $11. Best Buy.
Clear with a very faint green straw cast. Aromas of pear cocktail in syrup and honeysuckle follow through on a soft, mellow entry to a fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body with nicely integrated pear skin and jicama flavors. Finishes with a touch of cashew brittle and chalk. A nicely balance pear flavor for cocktails or on the rocks as an aperitif. (tasted on Dec-17-2008)
84 • Moonstone Plum Ginjo Saké $11.|Find-a-Wine|
Pretty pink platinum color. Aromas of grape candy, rose water, and cherry-berry lip balm follow through on a brisk, lightly tannic entry to a fruity sweet medium body with tangy fruitstripe gum notes and a bubblegum dust fade. A curious Kool-aid like confection; maybe in cocktails? (tasted on Dec-17-2008)
