Garnet violet color. Roasted coffee, mossy clay, and berry custard aromas follow through on a brisk, round entry to a dryish medium-to-full body with tangy plum pie, cedar, and spice notes. Finishes with a tart and savory sautéed green pepper, herb butter, cinnamon bark, and chalky tannin fade. A nicely structured claret style wine made for aging or present enjoyment with a porterhouse. Pale golden color. Aromas of yellow apple, orange, beeswax, and nectarine follow through on a soft, silky entry to a fruity sweet medium with great tangy acidity and a white flower and talc accented fade. A delicious sipper or pair with spicy Thai curries or sweet and sour pork. (tasted on Dec-08-2008)

Bright golden amber color. Apricot butter, golden raisin, and delicate spiced nut aromas follow through on a soft, silky entry to a fruity sweet medium body with good depth, tangy dried tangerine peel acidity, and lingering metal ore note of the juicy finish. Very nice with a ripe fruit core and balanced structure. (tasted on Jan-15-2009)

Aromas of orange sherbet and huckleberry pie a la mode follow through on a silky, supple entry to a fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body with tangy peach and citrus marmalade, spice, and toffee notes. Finishes with long, velvety chewy tannin, olive, and orange fruit nut cake fade. A delicious beautifully made merlot. (tasted on Jan-15-2009)

Deep garnet black color. Soft aromas of black raspberry and orange soufflé follow through on a supple entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with plum, pepper, Darjeeling tea, and cedar notes. Finishes with a savory roasted tomato, citrus marmalade, and honey fade with firm yet pliable tannins. A great steak or pot roast wine. (tasted on Jan-15-2009)

Finishes with a lively tart citrus and mineral fade. A nice aperitif especially with oysters. (tasted on Dec-08-2008)

Pale scarlet color. Fruity aromas of warm strawberry compote, fennel, and minerals follow through on a dryish medium body with soft intensity and acidity and a hint of herbs. Finishes with a touch of lime and pewter on the breezy finish. A carefree, sipper and good match for salmon. (tasted on Jan-15-2009)

Dark violet color. Pungent aromas of cinnamon bark, ink, cocoa, and mulberry follow through on a bright entry to a dryish medium body with good depth and mint leaf and strawberry notes. Finishes with a densely tannic, savory tomato, cinnamon, and herb accented fade. Give this some time and serve with venison. (tasted on Jan-15-2009)
87 • Tomasello 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Outer Coastal Plain $30.
Deep garnet black color. Smoky cedar, dark chocolate sauce, pickled peppers, and raisin and currant puree aromas have a lightly phenolic melted rubber note and follow through on a brisk round entry to a dryish medium body with singed nutshell and berry seed notes. Finishes with a tart, smoky, pithy fade. Curious, but fun. Try with boar. (tasted on Dec-08-2008)
