Charles Laverick spent two weeks in April and May 2002 reviewing 400 Barolos and Barbarescos from the 1998 and 1999 vintage respectively. Surprising the ordeal left him looking with great anticipation toward spring 2003, when the 1999 Barolos will be ready for tasting en masse. 1999 is shaping up to be another exceptional Barolo vintage, and on current form it will be superior to the 1998 vintage.
