Ruby color. Odd, off-putting aromas of berry bush, charred nuts, matchstick, and fried rice with a lean, tangy, fruity light-to-medium body and a smooth, instantaneous wild raspberries and mulberries and straw and grass finish. A smoky, earthy, berry-flavored mead for cheese.

Melomel

Melomel is a traditional mead to which fruit has been added. The fruit character is the driver here, and whether dry or sweet should be very evident. Key here is a natural, ‘off-the-vine’ evocation rather than any suggestion of artificial flavorings.
