Larry has worked in the beverage/hospitality industry for over a decade and has been a Certified Saké Professional since 2007. Over the years he has worked as a buyer at Sam's Wine and Spirits, contributed to a number of local and national publications including Food & Wine Magazine and Crain's Chicago Business, and has provided specialized saké consulting to multiple restaurants, importers and distributors. "I love the culture, history, art and science of alcoholic beverages," Larry says.
For over 7 years, Larry has served as a panelist with BTI/Tastings.com, specializing in saké. He views himself as a sake "technician" rather than a "flavorist." "As difficult as it is, I try to taste samples and compare them to the standard for the type and category as opposed to the glasses next to the one I'm tasting," he says.
